We think children should have responsibility for their school and play an active part in its running. By doing this they not only learn to value their community more but also gain many other important skills. This is why our school council is very important to us.
All classes from year one to year six elect a councillor. The twelve school councillors meet regularly with the Headteacher to provide feedback from the children about things which are working well in the school and things they would like to improve further. The Council makes decisions about some of the things the school buys and are also involved in organising events to raise money for charities. Being a school councillor is a very responsible position and a great experience for our children. They are a very powerful group who really get things done in the school!
The Council sometimes make video reports about Hareside and what we are doing.
